Mount Snow Opened up for its 61st Winter Season Thanksgiving
Mount Snow, VT (November 2, 2015) – Winter is here. Mount Snow’s snowmaking and grooming team were able to make snow five of the last six days and opened up for skiing and riding on Thanksgiving with an enthusiastic crowd of hungry skiers & riders.
“We always try to open for skiing and riding on or before Thanksgiving, but it’s all up to Mother Nature,” said Kelly Pawlak, Mount Snow’s General Manager. “Once it got cold our snowmakers were able to make snow top to bottom and we opened up with 6 trails for all abilities including a terrain park over on our Carinthia mountain face. Regardless if carving turns is a part of the festivities, it’s always a fun weekend at the mountain.”
Guests worked off that second helping of pie at the Turkey Hangover Hill Climb, which started in the Main Base Area at noon on Friday, Nov. 27. This free event is a race from the starting line up to a point on the hill and back with three categories – green circle (easiest/shortest), blue square (intermediate/longer), and black diamond (most difficult/longest).
On Saturday, Nov. 28 the skies will light up with a huge fireworks display that follows the first torchlight parade of the season (conditions permitting). After the fireworks, guests can make their way inside the Main Base Lodge and get their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus for free.
